Library Books on Your Nook

Learn to download library books on to your Nook® on Wednesday, March 20 from 10:00am until noon at the Fayetteville Public Library. The class is free, but registration is required.

The class will cover all the basics of downloading books from the library’s online service, Library2Go. You will need the following items for class: a current library card, your Nook®, and a laptop if you do not have a Nook®HD or Nook® Tablet.

Seating is limited; call Reference Services at 479.856.7250 to reserve your seat in the class.

Miss Arkansas Contestants Selected for State Pageant

Contestants for the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant to be held July 10-13, 2013 in Hot Springs were selected to represent northwest Arkansas at the Miss Lakes of the Northwest and Miss Frisco Springs Pageants held at the Victory Theater in Rogers.

Springdale PD to Take Part in Great Arkansas Cleanup

On Saturday March 9th at 9am, the Springdale Police Department will partner with George Junior High for the Great Arkansas Cleanup through Keep America Beautiful. Hundreds of students from George Junior High will meet at the school just before 9am and break up into smaller teams before walking through the surrounding neighborhoods picking up litter. This provides an opportunity for the kids to take a special interest in their community and impact it in a positive way.

Civil War Sesquicentennial Traveling Exhibit to Be Shown at Headquarters House During March

FAYETTEVILLE – The Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Traveling Exhibit will be on display at Headquarters House, 118 E. Dickson Street in Fayetteville for the next two weeks.

The public is welcome to visit Headquarters House, a family residence at the time of the Civil War and now operated by the Washington County Historical Society as a period museum. Headquarters House will be open from 1-4 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays for the public to see the traveling exhibit.

Washington Regional Foundation Announces 2013 Eagle Award Winners

Three Eagle Award recipients will be formally recognized during Washington Regional Foundation’s Gala 2013, “An Evening with Kool and the Gang,” scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, at Walton Arts Center. Established in 1994, the Eagle Award for Outstanding Health Leadership is given to individuals or organizations that make outstanding contributions to the improvement of healthcare in Northwest Arkansas. This year’s recipients are George R. Cole, M.D. (posthumously), David G. Ratcliff, M.D., and the Cancer Challenge.
