‘Fayetteville Sip & Dip’ to Bring Brew and Cheese Dip Lovers Together | Arts & Culture
Cheese lovers, gets your chips ready. Beer lovers, call your DD. As if Cinco De Mayo wasn’t reason enough to celebrate, this Saturday’s ‘Fayetteville Sip & Dip’ is promised to be a good time for an even better cause.
The World Cheese Dip Championship will host an inaugural Northwest Arkansas Cheese Dip Classic from 2 to 6 p.m., Saturday, May 5 at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Fayetteville.
Local celebrities, food critics, and political dignitaries will join the public in voting to decide which cheese dip will best represent the Northwest Arkansas region at the 3rd annual World Cheese Dip Championship on Oct. 20 in Little Rock.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas.
Admission to the Northwest Arkansas Cheese Dip Classic is $10 for adults, $5 for students with a valid school ID and free for children 10 and younger.
Advance tickets can be purchased at some Arvest Bank locations, including the main bank and branches on Crossover, Green Acres, Joyce, University, Wedington, West Sixth, and the Walmart Supercenters on Mall Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard.
There will also be live music from local and regional artists, as well as food vendors including Hammontrees, Mellow Mushroom and Hog Haus Brewing Company.
The competition is “dip” part of the ‘Fayetteville Sip & Dip.’
The first large scale beer sampling festival in Northwest Arkansas, dubbed Fayetteville Foam Fest, is where the “sip” comes in.
Attendees will sip and sample more than 200 types of beers from around the world between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Arkansas Music Pavilion at the fairgrounds.
Foam Fest passes come with a mug, live music and free reign to sample international and national brews. Locally crafted brews from West Mountain Brewery, Hog Haus, Fossil Cove Brewery and Tanglewood Branch will also be featured.
Tickets are available for $30 at: Jammin Java, U.S. Pizza, West Mountain Brewery, Hog Haus, Brewski’s, Mellow Mushroom, Hammontree’s, The Glass Station, The Mustache and other local Fayetteville shops.
Proceeds from the Foam Fest will benefit Feed Fayetteville.
Designated drivers will receive a free gift of appreciation at the gate as well as free non-alcoholic beverages.
