Springdale Community Block Party | Events
First United Methodist Church of Springdale will hold it's annual Community Block Party on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at our downtown campus located at 206 W. Johnson Avenue Springdale, from 4:00 p.m. to 7 p.m.
We will begin handing out free backpacks at 4:00 p.m. so families should plan to arrive no later than 4 to receive a ticket, as we expect to pass out more than 1000 free backpacks with school supplies to families in our community.
The Washington County Health Department will be on hand to provide immunizations and the best local stylist in town will provide back to school haircuts free of charge on a first come first serve basis.
The event is a celebration of our neighborhood and this year guests can enjoy live music, dinner and games that include a climbing wall, pony rides and a temporary tattoo table.
First Church helps families prepare for the school year with our Community Block Party that is held annually on the 2nd Sunday in August. This event provides immunizations, back to school supplies, backpacks and haircuts but is first and foremost a celebration of our Community and the families that live in the surrounding neighborhoods around the First Church and Agape Campus.
The 2012 Community Block Party gives our church members an opportunity to showcase resources that are available to our neighbors which include The Bread of Life Food Pantry, Our Daily Bread, (A weekly hot meal program), First Church's partnership with Lee Elementary and ALE and Christopher's House. These resources are available to all of our neighbors whether they are members of First Church or not.
This year our guests at our Community Block Party will include the ministry team from the AGAPE campus of First Church. Agape is the new Multicultural Worship Center located at 1520 West Huntsville Road in Springdale.
We are still in need of donations in the form of backpacks, school supplies and monetary donations so would love to speak to your media outlet about the event.
