Holiday Tips for Reducing Waste and Maximizing Recycling

The holiday season is upon us, and with it comes the excess trash from most households as they deal with parties, presents and other holiday activities.  Since Fayetteville operates a Pay-As-You-Throw residential trash program, managing this extra volume can prove somewhat of a challenge.  In December, each single family household will be mailed 4 free extra bag stickers for 2013.  The stickers are to be used on excess bags of trash at any time throughout the year to avoid the $6 extra bag charge for excess trash above the rim of the cart on trash service days. 

'Keep Fayetteville Beautiful' Ceremony set for Dec. 6

The City of Fayetteville, Keep Arkansas Beautiful, and Keep America Beautiful invite you to a special Ceremony to confirm Keep Fayetteville Beautiful as an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. in room 219 of City Hall (113 W. Mountain Street).

Wilson Park Pool Rennovations

The City of Fayetteville will begin construction of the Wilson Park Pool Renovations on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Wilson Park is located at 675 N. Park Avenue west of College Avenue (U.S. Highway 71B).

 

College Avenue Sidewalk Improvements

COLLEGE AVENUE SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS

The City of Fayetteville Transportation Division will begin a project on Monday, August 13, to complete the sidewalk along the west side of College Avenue between Center Street and Mountain Street.  This work will continue through August 31, 2012.  These improvements are intended to improve sidewalk connections and pedestrian safety. Improvements will consist of installing new sidewalk with brick border, trees and street lights. Scheduled work hours will be 7:00 a.m.

Gordon Long Park Swing Construction Underway

Construction of new swings has begun at Gordon Long Park. The park is located 2800 N. Gregg Avenue west of College Avenue (U.S. Highway 71B) and north of Sunbridge Drive. This project includes the construction of new swings north of the existing playground area. The new swing structure includes four belts swings, one toddler swing and one all-inclusive, ADA-accessible swing and wood mulch safety surfacing. Demolition and replacement of approximately 30 linear feet of 5-foot wide concrete sidewalk is also included.

Friends of FPL Donate $250,000 to Fayetteville Public Library

FAYETTEVILLE – The Friends of the Fayetteville Public Library unanimously voted to increase their pledge to the NEH Challenge Grant by $45,000 Monday, June 25th for a total of $250,000. Their donation is the largest single pledge amount to the grant fund.

City to Replace Damaged Trees

The City of Fayetteville will begin replacing damaged trees in the median on College Avenue (highway 71-B) between Dickson Street and Lafayette Street.  Work will begin Thursday, June 21, with scheduled work hours starting at 8:30 a.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m.
