Gene Foreman, the university’s inaugural visiting professor for the Center for Ethics in Journalism in the Walter J. Lemke Department of Journalism, will be joined by fellow journalism professors Gerald Jordan and Patsy Watkins for a discussion about the state of journalistic ethics.

It's time for the Bilingual Preschool Fall Fun Festival! Larson's Language Center invites you to join in on the games, food, costume parade, and more! Dress up your munchkins in their favorite costume, and don't forget your Trick or Treat bag.

The event will be held on Friday, October 11 from 5:30PM to 7:30PM at The Little Gym of Rogers. This is not only a fundraising event, but you can also get to know the families at Larson's Language Center, learn more about the Hispanic culture, and of course, have fun!

NWACC Foundation Inducts Members  into Post Oak Society

Several individuals were inducted into the NorthWest Arkansas Community College Foundation’s Post Oak Society during a ceremony on Sept. 19.


In 2012, the NWACC Foundation Planned Giving Committee members determined they wanted a special way to recognize individuals who have established an endowed scholarship to benefit NWACC’s students or for those individuals who have designated a planned gift to benefit the College. The Post Oak Society was established, and this honorary association was announced at the College’s annual Plant A Seed gala in April.

Researchers Receive $1.4 Million from U.S. Department of Transportation

– Transportation researchers at the University of Arkansas will receive $1.4 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation to create the Maritime Transportation Research and Education Center.

The funds, announced Tuesday by U.S. Sens. Mark Pryor and John Boozman and Rep. Steve Womack — all of Arkansas — will augment transportation research at the university and will address the Transportation Department’s strategic goal of economic competiveness through efficient, resilient and sustainable transportation systems on U.S. navigable waterways.

O'Donnell Named as Associate Vice Chancellor for Budget and Financial Planning

Timothy J. O’Donnell, vice president and former treasurer of Southwestern Energy Co., has been hired as associate vice chancellor for budget and financial planning at the University of Arkansas, effective Oct. 7. O’Donnell was hired for the newly created position following a national search that started in July. He will be a member of the financial leadership team within the Division of Finance and Administration, reporting to vice chancellor Don Pederson.

BlueInGreen Hooks Into Solution for Oklahoma’s Trout

BlueInGreen LLC, a company affiliated with the University of Arkansas, is helping the “Trout Capital of Oklahoma” keep its title.

The water-quality management firm, in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Southwest Power Administration and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, installed a supersaturated dissolved oxygen system (SDOX) this summer at Tenkiller Dam in Gore, Okla.

Arkansas Alumni Association Scholarship Program Reaches $1 Million Milestone

The Arkansas Alumni Association’s alumni scholarship program will award $1 million to 442 University of Arkansas students for the current academic year. Robin January, scholarship coordinator for the association, received the final two acceptance letters from scholarship awardees.

“We finally hit the $1 million mark for 2013-14 scholarships,” she exclaimed in an email to Alumni Association staff.
