Police ask people not to park along Rockwood Trail

On Monday, the city of Fayetteville’s transportation department will begin the process of milling and then applying an asphalt overlay to the entire roadway section of Rockwood Trail.

The work will take about a week to complete.

Police ask that people refrain from parking on the street from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., so it won’t interfere with the construction work. During these hours, the street will be closed to thru traffic.

University of Arkansas students and Razorback fans often walk on one section on Razorback Road between Cleveland and Maple Streets. It's a steep hill, with no sidewalk and a lot of traffic.

Soon construction will start on the east side for a new sidewalk, a curb and gutters. These new additions, some said, are desperately needed.

"Walking there, cars are driving by you (and) it’s just kind of scary," said Jayde Dzierba.

Because of the risk, some college students said they won't even try walking on the road.
